At the intersection of two taboos—women’s bodies and aging—menopause has long been silenced and ignored, contributing to the invisibility of those affected. However, as women break their silence and society becomes more aware of the opportunities that come with longer life expectancy, things are beginning to change.
Yet, when menopause is discussed, confusion often arises: What exactly does the term mean? How can we talk about it while respecting women’s privacy? How can we better navigate this life transition, both individually and collectively? How can we create a work environment that supports the well-being of menopausal women—and everyone else?
Valerie Boas, a specialist in raising awareness on diversity issues, tackles menopause with humor and clarity, addressing even the uncomfortable questions. Drawing on her experience as a journalist, trainer, and, of course, a “young” menopausal woman, she sheds light on this important topic.
