Cristina Bowerman is a multi-talented chef with a passion for travel and innovative cooking. After many years abroad in the United States, she has returned to Italy, keen on inspiring a new generation of female chefs and leading a fresh, modern era of Italian cooking.

We are surrounded by successful women but why do we not hear of them enough? Many male dominated fields are really hard to penetrate but through spreading successful role modeling, common people can change their perception and overcome the traditional role assigned to women: female astronauts, pilots, surgeons and …chefs will be the norm. It will take years to come to reach full opportunities for women but we are on the right path. But, how to do it?

In this conference, the multi-talented and passionate Chef Cristina Bowerman will tell you about her story and her experience in a male dominated field. Cristina Bowerman is the owner and chef of the Michelin-starred restaurant Glass Hostaria in Rome, where counter current architecture is at the forefront, cuisine is original and very personal and the entire world is an inspiration.

After only three years at Glass Hostaria, she received a Michelin star which she still detains today, still the only woman in Rome after 11 years. She travels the world quenching her thirst for other cultures and ingredients while expanding her business overseas. Cristina regularly holds motivational talks in several Universities and she has been speaker in two TEDx focusing on female empowerment and modern management.

She has been assigned many important awards over the years which include Best Chef in Europe, Best Chef in Italy, 50 Best discovery and she represents a reference in her profession. She has always used her profession and fame to work on social issues she is passionate about. She regularly volunteers for many national and international associations such as Komen, Action Aid, AIL, Caritas and Sant'Egidio, FFK.
