The Doughnut Economy Fresk
The doughnut economy is a compass for human prosperity in the 21st century, its aim being to meet the needs of all human beings within planetary limits.
The Doughnut is made up of two concentric rings: a social base, to ensure that no one lacks life essentials, and an ecological ceiling, to ensure that humanity does not collectively exceed the planetary limits that protect the Earth's life support systems. Between these two sets of limits lies a doughnut-shaped space that is both ecologically safe and socially fair: a space in which humanity can thrive.
Inspired by the climate fresk and its many variations, the “doughnut fresco" workshop is made up of 29 cards representing concepts, consequences and solutions. It relies on collective intelligence to make the links between the different cards and design a complex economic system that, instead of seeking growth at any price, respects planetary boundaries and satisfies basic human needs.
For 1 hour and a half, participants will first be able to discover and discuss the 7 foundations of the current dominant economic system, and analyse its social and environmental consequences.
The second part of the workshop will explore the 7 pillars of tomorrow's economy, the one that will enable humanity to live in a safe environment and prosper in a fairer way - the famous doughnut.
