Preventing sexist and sexual violence:
the role of the manager
Learning objectives
- Know how to distinguish between the different forms of gender-based and sexual violence in the workplace
- Recognise the warning signs and mechanisms of violence
- Understand the potential consequences for the victim, the team and the company
- Know how to act as a manager: prevent, detect, respond to and report violence
Using practical examples, this course aims to enable participants to distinguish between the different forms of gender-based violence and sexual violence in the workplace (sexist behaviour, sexual harassment, sexual assault), to identify the right and wrong reflexes for responding as a manager, and to know who to turn to, all in a positive, non-moralising frame of mind.
This course is divided into the following sections :
Identifying and understanding the different forms of sexist and sexual violence
- Knowing the legal definitions of gender-based and sexual violence
- Distinguishing between sexist behaviour, sexual harassment and sexual assault
- Know how to differentiate between sexual harassment and moral harassment
- Be aware of the criminal sanctions involved
What can you do?
- Understand the impact of violence: on the victim, on the team and on the organisation
- Your role as a manager: how to prevent, detect and act?
- How to react on the spot (role play: reacting to sexist behaviour or witnessing violence, reporting incidents brought to my attention, what to do if the victim doesn't want to report, etc.)
