Book Club : interactive reading session
Join us for an engaging book-reading session where we'll explore thought-provoking literature and its key insights.
This is a wonderful opportunity to delve into the main messages of selected works, discuss their content in light of our own experiences and share what we can take away from them.
We'll come together to react, exchange viewpoints, and ask questions in a supportive and interactive environment.
Whether you're a passionate reader and DEI advocate, or just curious, this session promises stimulating conversation and a chance to broaden your horizons.
Books can be selected according to your needs and interests.
Here are two examples of books that can be used as a basis for this session:
Example 1: "What Works: Gender Equality by Design" by Iris Bohnet
This book explores practical strategies to promote gender equality in the workplace and beyond. Iris Bohnet combines insights from behavioral economics and psychology to demonstrate how biases can be mitigated through smart design and policy changes. She presents evidence-based interventions that have proven effective in reducing gender disparities, from recruitment processes to organizational practices. This book offers actionable solutions for creating more inclusive environments and achieving gender equality through thoughtful design.
Example 2: "Thinking, Fast and Slow" by Daniel Kahneman
This book delves into the two systems of thought that shape our decisions. System 1 is fast, intuitive, and emotional, while System 2 is slower, more deliberative, and logical. Kahneman demonstrates how these systems influence our judgments and choices, often leading to cognitive biases. Through research and anecdotes, he reveals common thinking errors and suggests ways to improve decision-making. This book provides a deep understanding of human psychology and its implications for everyday and professional life.
A book club with regular reading sessions can also be set up as a year-round activity.
Let's learn and grow together through the power of books!
